Cover Supervisor – Flexible short-term and long-term opportunities available immediately
These flexible opportunities are ideal for Cover Supervisors who enjoy variety and want to make a positive impact across different school settings. You will be supporting pupils in Welwyn Garden City and the surrounding areas, ensuring learning continues smoothly in the absence of the class teacher.Duties as Cover Supervisor:

• Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials across a range of subjects
• Maintain a calm, structured, and purposeful learning environment
• Manage behaviour effectively in line with school policies
• Support pupils in staying engaged and completing the work set
• Take registers and follow school safeguarding procedures
• Supervise pupils during lessons, transitions, and occasionally breaks or lunchtimes
• Report feedback on pupil behaviour, engagement, and progress to teaching or pastoral staff
• Assist with wider classroom and school support duties where needed

Ideal Cover Supervisor:

• Previous experience working with young people, ideally in a school environment
• Confident leading a classroom and maintaining pupil engagement
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Effective behaviour management and a calm, consistent approach
• Adaptable across different subjects, year groups, and school environments
• Professional, reliable, and proactive
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
• Willingness to undertake relevant training and ongoing development
