SEMH Teaching Assistant – Full-time, long-term temporary and ongoing role starting March 2026 with potential to become permanent

- Support pupils aged 11–16 with SEMH needs and challenging behaviours
- Work 1:1 and with small groups in an alternative education provision
- Help pupils regulate emotions and re-engage with learning
- Build positive, trusting relationships to motivate hard-to-reach learners
- Assist with personalised learning strategies and behaviour plans
- Support lesson activities through modelling, guidance, and encouragement
- Promote positive behaviour and maintain consistent routines
- Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, and external professionals
- Uphold safeguarding expectations and prioritise pupil well-being
- Strong SEMH experience is essential
- Resilient, patient, and confident managing challenging behaviours
- Skilled at motivating disengaged pupils through relationship-based support
- Calm, consistent, and able to work under pressure
- Good communication and teamwork abilities
- Able to adapt support strategies to meet diverse pupil needs
