RECfinancial are recruiting for a Temporary Assistant Financial Accountant, on a full-time basis, working Monday to Friday in the office.  This is an exceptional opportunity to join a highly progressive finance department. Offering finance support across the wider business structure and various departmental teams. 

The role involves a fast-paced month-end and a diverse range of financial activities, making it ideal for a flexible and adaptable individual who is eager to expand and develop their current skillset.  Commutable from Leicester, Birstall, Thurmaston, Belgrave, and all over Leicestershire.

ABOUT THE ASSISTANT FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT ROLE:

This role is ideal for someone looking to build or grow their career in finance, supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the business. You will report to the Team Financial Controller and assist with a variety of financial tasks to ensure accurate and timely processing of transactions.

 

CORE DUTIES OF THE ASSISTANT FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT ROLE: 

  • Accurately and promptly process purchase ledger invoices in line with internal controls.
  • Raise purchase orders as required, ensuring correct authorisation and logging.
  • Assist in generating customer invoices and allocating customer payments.
  • Support the Month-End Close process through preparation of journals, reconciliations, and analysis.
  • Assist with weekly and monthly financial reporting.
  • Supporting the understanding of cost drivers, identify variances, and support actions that improve cost control and efficiency across the business.

KEY TASKS OF THE ASSISTANT FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT 

  • Accurately maintain and open new customers and supplier accounts.
  • Handle internal and external finance queries in a timely and professional manner.
  • File, organise, and maintain financial documents, records, and correspondence.
  • Prepare spreadsheets, input data, 
  • Ensure compliance with internal finance processes, controls, and procedures.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and assist with payment runs
  • Perform daily bank reconciliations
  • Assist with VAT returns 
  • Prepare basic financial reports and summaries when required
  • Support the wider finance team with administrative tasks

KEY SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Previous experience in a management accounting or financial role 
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and accounting systems (SAP)
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise workload
  • A team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • AAT Qualification or Part-Qualified ideally.
