Electrical Bias Engineer
Location: Didcot
Salary: £36,000

We are currently recruiting for an Electrical Bias Engineer to join a facilities maintenance team based in Didcot. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining electrical plant and equipment while ensuring faults and defects are identified and resolved quickly to maintain operational performance.

Role Summary

React to breakdown maintenance requests within agreed service level agreements.

Carry out maintenance, repairs and installation of electrical plant and equipment when required.

Work within critical environments and have technical awareness of systems including power, UPS, CPS, electrical distribution and cooling systems.

Carry out repairs to modular UPS systems and support the maintenance of critical electrical infrastructure.

Test and diagnose power quality issues including harmonic distortion using on site power analysers.

Apply a risk focused maintenance approach when operating plant and systems within data centre or critical environments.

Provide emergency response and participate in standby and call out duties when required.

Escalate urgent technical issues to the Technical Services Manager and respond to outages or system interruptions in line with service agreements.

Ensure all engineering maintenance documentation and records relating to critical systems are kept accurate and up to date.

Support the Facilities Management team by advising on any changes to critical environment requirements.

Undertake site surveys and produce work requests, method statements and risk assessments for planned works.

Carry out upgrade and installation works when required.

Interpret technical drawings, operational instructions and O&M documentation.

Complete reactive helpdesk requests and ensure maintenance tasks are completed within agreed timeframes.

Monitor environmental conditions and review loading and operational performance of critical equipment.

Ensure financial processes are followed and quotes for remedial works are entered onto the internal system.

Complete incident reports for abnormal events affecting system availability and support root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.

Experience Required

Essential

17th Edition Electrical Wiring Regulations.

Desirable

Experience working with building management systems including fault finding and operator use.

Experience with VAV systems, FCU systems, chilled water circuits, chilled beams and HVAC systems.

Understanding of the CDM process.

Strong communication and organisational skills.

Experience delivering high levels of customer service.

Ability to organise and manage assigned tasks and determine materials required.

Knowledge of health and safety procedures including COSHH, working at height and risk assessments.

Health and safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH.

Experience with testing and inspection of electrical systems.

Understanding of emergency response, standby and call out procedures.

Experience monitoring utilities and environmental systems.

Previous experience as an Authorised Person such as AP15 or AP12.

Water hygiene L8 knowledge or training.
