Job Description:
PE Teacher – SEMH Secondary School
Location: West Drayton
Contract: Full-time
Salary: MPS1 – MPS6
Start Date: ASAP
Safeguarding: Applicants must have an Enhanced Child and Adult DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for a new one.
A specialist secondary school in West Drayton is seeking a dedicated PE Teacher to join their team on a full-time basis. The role is being advertised by a recruitment agency on behalf of the school and offers an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive environment for students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
The Role
In this role, you will teach Physical Education across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 (OCR GCSE), and BTEC Sport National Level 3 (KS5) to male pupils. Students participate in weekly PE lessons covering a variety of indoor and outdoor sports, fitness, and physical development activities.
The school promotes a holistic approach to PE, using sport and physical activity to support students’ physical health, emotional wellbeing, and confidence. Lessons aim to develop physical competence while encouraging a lifelong positive attitude towards health and fitness.
You will work as part of a small and supportive PE department and should demonstrate an engaging teaching style, strong behaviour management, and the ability to motivate and inspire students with varying abilities and additional needs.
Applications are welcomed from both qualified teachers and experienced unqualified teachers who have previously taught PE within a secondary school or academy environment.
About the School
The school is a secondary specialist provision for students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. Many students join the school after experiencing challenges in mainstream education, and the school is committed to re-engaging them with learning in a supportive and structured environment.
The curriculum is designed to be practical, varied, and engaging, allowing students to develop their skills and interests through both academic learning and an enrichment programme that broadens their experiences.
Staff focus on reflection and restorative practice rather than traditional sanctions. This approach helps students understand their behaviour, recognise their strengths, and develop strategies to move forward positively.
The school’s goal is to ensure that students leave with academic outcomes that reflect their abilities, along with the personal and social skills needed to sustain relationships, gain employment, and maintain healthy and independent lives.
The site is easily accessible by car and offers free on-site parking.
Requirements
