Year 2 Teacher – Part-time, long-term cover 2 days per week from April 2026 until July 2026Step Teachers have worked with this small school on the North Norfolk coast for many years, and we know firsthand just how warm, welcoming and genuinely nurturing it is. - Take responsibility for teaching a Year 2 class for 2 days each week from April 2026 until July 2026
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons that follow the Key Stage 1 curriculum and build on pupils’ prior learning
- Assess, record and report on pupils’ progress, using assessment information to inform next steps in learning
- Create a positive, nurturing classroom environment where all children feel valued, safe and motivated to do their best
- Work closely with other teachers and support staff to ensure continuity of learning across the week
- Differentiate learning effectively to meet the needs of all learners, including pupils with SEND and those who are more able
- Establish and maintain clear behaviour expectations in line with the school’s policies, promoting kindness and respect
- Communicate professionally with parents and carers as needed regarding pupils’ learning and well-being
- Contribute to the wider life of the school, including participating in relevant meetings, planning sessions and moderation activities
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with recent experience teaching in Key Stage 1, ideally as a Year 2 Teacher
- Confident in planning and delivering well-structured lessons that support strong progress in reading, writing and maths
- Skilled in using formative and summative assessment to track attainment and adapt teaching accordingly
- Able to build warm, trusting relationships with young children and create a classroom where they feel secure and ready to learn
- Strong behaviour management grounded in positive relationships, consistency and clear expectations
- Well-organised and reliable, able to manage planning, marking and assessment effectively within a 2-day-a-week timetable
- Collaborative team player who is happy to share ideas, resources and best practice with colleagues
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children at all times
