Job Description:
We’re working with a well-established, global engineering business delivering complex industrial systems into sectors such as mining, energy, and heavy industry. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an Electrical Commissioning Engineer to support major UK projects.
This is a hands-on, site-focused role, ideal for someone who enjoys working on large-scale industrial systems rather than clean or factory-only environments.
The RoleYou’ll be responsible for the installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and fault finding of heavy industrial equipment on customer sites.
This is a highly site-based position, with current project work focused in North Yorkshire and Cornwall, alongside wider UK support.
What Really MattersThis role will suit someone who:
- Comes from a heavy industrial background (e.g. oil & gas, power generation, mining, steel, rail)
- Is hands-on electrically, comfortable working on large industrial machinery and systems
- Has experience across installation, testing, and fault finding in live environments
- Is confident working on-site for extended periods, not just office or design-based roles
- Experience with Siemens S7 (1200/1500) is important
- You do not need to be a software engineer
- You do need to be comfortable fault finding across electrical and PLC-controlled systems
- Open to developing further in automation and controls
- Site-based role and shift work
- Regular overtime available
- Frequent UK travel (primarily North Yorkshire & Cornwall)
- Working on large, complex, industrial installations
- Coordinate and carry out electrical commissioning activities on-site
- Support installation and oversee system integration
- Perform testing, validation, and fault finding on equipment
- Produce reports and ensure compliance with technical specifications
- Carry out minor modifications, snagging, and system improvements
- Work closely with engineering and project teams to resolve technical issues
- Time-served engineer with an electrical or multi-skilled background
- HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Electrical, Mechanical, or related discipline
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Professional and reliable on-site
- A strong communicator
- Adaptable and willing to support different projects as the business grows
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
- £45,000 – £65,000 basic salary
- Generous overtime opportunities
- Daily travel allowances
- Car allowance
- 30 days holiday additional accrual when on-site
- Work on large-scale, heavy industrial projects
- Join a growing UK team within a global business
- Long-term opportunity with strong project pipeline
- High earning potential through overtime and site work
If you’re a hands-on commissioning engineer who thrives in demanding site environments and enjoys solving real-world engineering challenges, this is a great opportunity to step into a long-term, high-impact role.
