Job Description:
SENDCO and Designated Safeguarding Lead – Full-time, long-term from 20 April 2026 until Summer

Duties as SENDCO and Designated Safeguarding Lead:
- Oversee and coordinate SEND provision to ensure pupils receive appropriate support.
- Lead safeguarding practice as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring all statutory responsibilities are met.
- Work closely with teachers, support staff and external agencies to create and review support plans.
- Monitor progress of learners with SEND and adjust interventions as required.
- Support staff in understanding and implementing effective strategies for behaviour, inclusion and engagement.
- Maintain accurate safeguarding and SEND documentation in line with statutory guidance.
- Provide guidance, training and support to colleagues on SEND and safeguarding best practice.
- Contribute to a positive, safe and supportive learning environment.
- Experienced in SEND coordination with a strong understanding of EHCP processes and inclusive practice.
- Trained and confident in managing safeguarding responsibilities at DSL level.
- Skilled in developing effective support strategies for learners with diverse and complex needs.
- Able to build strong relationships with pupils, staff, families and external professionals.
- Organised, proactive and confident in managing safeguarding and SEND documentation.
- Committed to creating a safe and supportive school environment.
