Assistant SENCO – Full-time, temporary until July 2026, with the possibility to go permanent in September 2026.

This secondary setting provides a supportive, nurturing environment where pupils feel safe, valued and able to re-engage with learning. Strong relationships between staff and pupils help learners build confidence, regulate their emotions and develop positive attitudes towards education. Pupils benefit from a broad and ambitious curriculum, skilled teaching, and effective support which helps them progress personally, socially and academically. Staff work together with a shared sense of purpose, ensuring that pupils’ needs are at the heart of decision-making.

Duties as Assistant SENCO:
  • Support the SENCO in coordinating provision for pupils with SEND.
  • Assist with reviewing needs, support plans and documentation.
  • Help implement strategies for pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Work alongside teachers to ensure effective classroom adaptations.
  • Support assessments, interventions and monitoring processes.
  • Liaise with families and external professionals when required.
  • Promote inclusion and ensure pupils can access learning successfully.
Ideal Assistant SENCO:
  • Must hold QTS, and
  • Relevant qualifications and experience supporting SEND.
  • Strong understanding of SEMH needs and effective support strategies.
  • Able to work collaboratively across teaching and support teams.
  • Effective communicator with strong organisational skills.
  • Confident in supporting assessments and tracking progress.
  • Positive, proactive and committed to improving outcomes for pupils.
  • Skilled at building trust and supporting pupils’ emotional well-being.
