Working on supply allows an Early Years Practitioner to support children’s learning and development in a range of environments, gain valuable experience, and maintain flexibility while contributing to high-quality early years provision across multiple settings.Duties as Early Years Practitioner:

• Support children’s learning and development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage framework
• Create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment that promotes curiosity and independence
• Support planned activities that encourage communication, social skills, and early learning
• Work with individuals and small groups to support learning through play
• Observe and support children’s progress and development throughout the day
• Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
• Follow safeguarding procedures and setting policies at all times
• Support daily routines including play, mealtimes, and transitions
• Communicate effectively with colleagues to ensure continuity of care
• Represent Step Teachers professionally while working as an Early Years Practitioner

Ideal Early Years Practitioner:

• Relevant early years qualification or previous experience working in an early years setting
• A caring, patient, and enthusiastic approach to supporting young children
• Good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework
• Confidence supporting children of different ages and developmental stages
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Flexibility and reliability when working on supply
• A proactive and adaptable attitude
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
• A genuine passion for early years education and development
• A positive and professional approach as an Early Years Practitioner
