Job Title: Mechanical Inspector

Location: Eastleigh

Hourly Rate: £17.86 per hour PAYE / £23.83 per hour umbrella

The Role

We’re looking for an experienced Mechanical Inspector to join a growing engineering/manufacturing business. This role is focused on ensuring all components and assemblies meet required specifications and quality standards before release to production or customer. You’ll play a key part in maintaining product integrity, working closely with production, engineering, and supply chain teams.

Key responsibilities for the Mechanical Inspector:

• Inspect mechanical components and assemblies against engineering drawings and specifications
• Carry out dimensional checks using equipment such as verniers, micrometers, and gauges
• Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspection to ensure quality standards are met
• Raise non-conformance reports (NCRs) and support root cause investigations
• Review and verify quality documentation including certificates, FAIRs, and inspection reports
• Work closely with suppliers and internal teams to resolve quality issues
• Ensure compliance with ISO9001 and/or industry-specific standards
• Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation

The successful Mechanical Inspector will have the below skills & experience:

• Proven experience in a quality inspection role within a mechanical manufacturing environment
• Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
• Hands-on experience using measurement equipment (e.g. calipers, micrometers, gauges)
• Understanding of quality standards such as ISO9001 (or AS9100 desirable)
• Experience raising and managing non-conformances
• Good attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
