SEND Tutor – Specialist Provision
Location: Welling, London Borough of Bexley
Pay Rate: £120 - £160 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-Time
A specialist SEND provision in Welling is seeking a motivated and passionate Tutor to join its dedicated team. This rewarding role involves delivering engaging, structured lessons to small groups of learners who, for a variety of reasons, are unable to access mainstream education and may present with single or multiple special educational needs.

The Role
You will be responsible for planning and delivering a Foundation Learning curriculum covering:
- English
- Maths
- ICT
- Vocational Learning
- Personal and Social Development
Working closely with the Senior Management Team and Qualified Teacher, you will contribute to the development of personalised learning programmes and support Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) and Junior Assistant Teachers to ensure learners make meaningful progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging Foundation Learning lessons to small groups of SEND learners.
- Develop daily lesson plans and schemes of work tailored to individual learner needs.
- Deliver personalised and differentiated learning activities.
- Support and guide LSAs and Junior Assistant Teachers within the provision.
- Monitor and track learner progress, maintaining accurate records including IEPs, PHPs, B-Squared assessments, and risk assessments.
- Implement behaviour management strategies in accordance with school policies.
- Build positive relationships with learners, parents, carers, and external professionals.
- Promote the provision's core values of Attendance, Routine, Respect, Relationships, Trust and Teaching (ARRRT).
- Uphold safeguarding, child protection, confidentiality, and professional standards at all times.
Essential Requirements
- A relevant qualification in teaching and learning, such as PTLLS, Level 3 Teaching and Learning, Teaching Assistant, Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), or equivalent.
- Education to A-Level standard or equivalent and above.
- Experience working with young people with SEND, challenging behaviour, SEMH needs, or complex additional needs.
- Good knowledge of SEND and the SEND Code of Practice.
- Ability to plan, deliver and adapt lessons using a variety of teaching and learning strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with both young people and adults.
- Strong organisational, planning, and time-management skills.
- A flexible, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting learners.
- Commitment to raising achievement and improving outcomes for vulnerable young people.
Desirable Requirements
- Degree-level qualification in a subject relevant to Foundation Learning.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Experience of outreach work with young people or vulnerable individuals.
- Knowledge and effective use of ICT to enhance learning and lesson delivery.
