Nursery Assistant – Lunch cover, long-term temporary and ongoing, starting September 2026

This Nursery Assistant role offers the opportunity to work daily during lunchtime hours in a supportive early years setting on a long‑term basis. The Nursery Assistant will play an important role in supporting children during lunchtime routines and afternoon sessions, helping to create a calm, safe, and nurturing environment. This position is ideal for a qualified Level 2 Nursery Assistant seeking consistent hours and long‑term stability.Duties as Nursery Assistant:

• Support children during lunchtime routines, including meals and transitions
• Supervise and engage children in a safe and nurturing manner
• Support children’s personal care and well‑being where required
• Encourage positive behaviour and social interaction
• Assist with play‑based activities and settling children after lunch
• Work collaboratively with nursery staff to maintain routines
• Ensure the environment remains clean, safe, and organised
• Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and early years procedures at all times

Ideal Nursery Assistant:

• Holds a Level 2 Early Years qualification (essential)
• Experience working in a nursery or early years setting
• Calm, caring, and patient approach when supporting young children
• Strong understanding of safeguarding and child welfare
• Reliable and committed to daily lunchtime cover
• Able to work consistently from 11:30am to 3:30pm
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Passion for supporting children’s early development
