Primary Teaching Assistant – Flexible supply roles, day-to-day and short-term opportunities
These flexible supply opportunities are ideal for a Primary Teaching Assistant who enjoys variety and wants to make a positive impact across different primary school settings. Working on supply allows a Primary Teaching Assistant to support pupils across a range of year groups while gaining experience in different classrooms and maintaining flexibility. This Class Act role suits adaptable individuals who are confident supporting teaching and learning wherever they are placed.Duties as Primary Teaching Assistant:
  • Support class teachers with daily classroom activities across EYFS, KS1, and KS2
  • Work with individual pupils and small groups to reinforce learning and promote progress
  • Assist with classroom organisation, preparation of resources, and learning materials
  • Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development
  • Provide additional support for pupils with SEND where required
  • Encourage pupil engagement, independence, and confidence in learning
  • Support transitions, playtimes, and lunchtime supervision when needed
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and school policies at all times
  • Provide feedback to teachers on pupil progress and engagement
  • Represent Class Act professionally while working as a Primary Teaching Assistant
Ideal Primary Teaching Assistant:
  • Previous experience working as a Primary Teaching Assistant or within a primary school setting
  • A positive, patient, and supportive approach to working with children
  • Confidence supporting pupils across different ages and abilities
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Flexibility and reliability when working on supply
  • A proactive and adaptable attitude to classroom support
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Ability to follow guidance and adapt quickly in new school environments
