Salary: Up to £50,000 DOE Bonus Excellent Benefits
Contract: 6-Month Fixed-Term Contract
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday

Senior Quality Engineer Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quality Engineer to join a well-established global engineering and manufacturing business on a 6-month fixed-term contract, providing cover for a period of long-term absence.

Based at the company's manufacturing facility in Mountsorrel, Leicestershire, this Senior Quality Engineer role will be responsible for driving quality performance across manufacturing, supplier and customer activities while supporting both UK and international operations. You'll work closely with Production, Engineering and Supply Chain teams to ensure products and processes consistently meet customer expectations and quality standards.

The Role

As the Senior Quality Engineer, you will play a key role in leading quality assurance and continuous improvement activities across the manufacturing operation. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading investigations into customer, supplier, internal and process quality issues through to effective corrective action.
  • Acting as the quality lead for assigned products, customers, manufacturing processes and projects.
  • Supporting APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, MSA and SPC activities for new and existing products.
  • Working closely with Production, Engineering, Supply Chain and suppliers to improve process capability and reduce non-conformance.
  • Analysing quality data to identify trends, reduce defects and improve right-first-time performance.
  • Supporting internal, customer and external audits while maintaining compliance with Quality Management Systems.
  • Providing technical guidance and day-to-day support to quality personnel where required.
  • Escalating significant quality risks and driving continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
About You

To be successful in this Senior Quality Engineer position, you will ideally have:

  • An engineering qualification (ONC, HNC, HND or equivalent), or significant practical experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • A wealth of experience within manufacturing quality, quality assurance or process quality engineering.
  • Proven experience leading customer, supplier and internal quality investigations.
  • Strong working knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, MSA and SPC.
  • Experience supporting new product introduction, quality planning and validation activities.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 or equivalent Quality Management Systems.
  • Strong root cause analysis skills using methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why or A3.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and build strong working relationships.
Desirable Experience
  • Lean Six Sigma Yellow, Green or Black Belt.
  • Experience using Minitab or similar statistical software.
  • Knowledge of CMM programming or metrology techniques.
  • Experience supporting customer or certification audits.
