Learning Support Assistant (LSA) – Secondary SEND School

Location: Charlton, Royal Borough of Greenwich
Pay: Competitive (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-time, term-time only

Are you an experienced Learning Support Assistant looking for your next rewarding role in SEND education?

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established Secondary SEND school in Charlton, Greenwich, seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants to support students aged 11–19 with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and complex medical needs.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:

  • Support students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.

  • Assist students in accessing a personalised curriculum.

  • Promote independence, communication, and social development.

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and the wider multidisciplinary team.

  • Support students with personal care and medical needs where required (training can be provided).

  • Help create a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment.

Essential Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) within a school setting.

  • GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above) or Level 2 qualifications in both Maths and English.

Alternatively, applicants will also be considered if they have either:

  • A recognised qualification or completed training in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) support, or

  • A degree-level qualification.
