We are looking for a hands-on Materials Technician to join our team at our Totnes site on a temporary basis. This role has been created to provide additional support within our Stores function during a period of maternity leave cover.
This is not a management position – we're looking for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, working as part of a busy operations team, and ensuring materials, stock, and components are available where and when they're needed.
The RoleAs a Materials Technician, you will play a key role in supporting manufacturing operations by maintaining accurate stock control, kitting parts for production, processing incoming goods, and assisting with general stores and operational activities. Your work will help ensure customer orders are delivered on time and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Kit contracts and works orders accurately and efficiently to meet production schedules.
- Monitor stock levels while kitting and report any discrepancies immediately.
- Maintain accurate stock records and ensure full traceability of parts and materials.
- Process and issue consumables and "over-the-counter" parts required by production teams.
- Receive, process, and book in incoming parts and components.
- Support the Product Assembly Department with the movement and preparation of instrument transit cases.
- Assist in the delivery of finished products to Goods Out.
- Ensure all build, tracking, and stock information is completed accurately and on time.
- Take ownership of assigned tasks and ensure deadlines and quality standards are met.
- Help identify and resolve issues relating to materials, quality, and timescales.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, ESD protection, and workplace organisation.
- Ensure safe storage and handling of chemicals and full compliance with COSHH requirements.
- Work safely at all times and adhere to company Health & Safety procedures.

- Is highly organised with strong attention to detail.

- Is comfortable using stock control systems and maintaining accurate records.

- Has a proactive and flexible approach to supporting operational activities.
- Understands the importance of health and safety in a manufacturing environment.
