As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll take ownership of projects from concept through to manufacture, designing customised equipment that solves real-world engineering challenges. Working closely with an onsite manufacturing facility, you'll see your designs come to life while collaborating with Sales, Production and customers to deliver high-quality engineered solutions.
What you'll be doing on a Mechanical Design Engineer:- Designing bespoke mechanical equipment using 2D and 3D CAD.
- Producing detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings.
- Managing projects from customer order through to production.
- Providing technical support to Sales and customers.
- Working with suppliers to source specialist components.
- Supporting manufacturing and resolving technical issues on the shop floor.
- Continuously improving designs and engineering processes.
- Mechanical Engineering qualification (Apprenticeship, HNC/HND or Degree).
- Experience designing bespoke mechanical products or machinery.
- Strong 2D & 3D CAD skills
- Good understanding of fabrication, welded assemblies and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
- Experience working within an ISO9001 environment.
- Sheet metal or fabricated machinery design.
- Rotary equipment.
- Bulk material handling or process equipment.
- ERP systems (Epicor desirable).
- Knowledge of ATEX, CE, UKCA or UL standards.
- Electrical or electronic engineering awareness.
- Design bespoke products rather than repetitive catalogue items.
- Work alongside an onsite manufacturing team and see your designs built.
