Job Description:
Our client, 3P Innovation, is a leading engineering business specialising in the design and manufacture of automated machinery for the pharmaceutical, medical device and FMCG industries.
Based in Warwick, 3P Innovation develops innovative automation solutions for some of the world’s leading companies, delivering high-quality, technically advanced machinery. Due to continued growth, they are now looking for a Controls Technician to join their Controls team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a passion for automation who enjoys working with structured systems, machine platforms and continuous improvement.
The Role
As a Controls Technician, you will be responsible for the configuration, commissioning and testing of control systems across a range of standardised machine platforms. You will work closely with a multi-disciplinary engineering team to ensure machines are delivered to a high standard, while supporting improvements to processes and documentation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Configuring, installing, commissioning and testing control systems for automated machinery.
- Working with PLCs, HMIs, servo motors and motion control systems.
- Supporting machine testing and ensuring systems perform to specification.
- Collaborating with engineers across mechanical, electrical and software disciplines.
- Working closely with Product Owners and Software Leads to improve machine platforms and processes.
- Completing machine documentation including:
- Test records
- System configuration records
- O&M manuals
- Software release documentation
- Disaster recovery documentation
- Supporting continuous improvement activities within the Controls team.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be a technically minded engineer with an interest in automation and a methodical approach to problem solving.
You will ideally have:
- A passion for automation and control systems.
- A methodical, accurate and detail-focused approach.
- A basic understanding of industrial automation and electrical systems.
- Experience working with PLCs, HMIs and motion control systems would be advantageous.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical and pneumatic systems.
- Experience with object-oriented programming and source control tools such as Git would be beneficial.
- Experience working within pharmaceutical, medical device or regulated manufacturing environments would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of GAMP, 21 CFR Part 11, EU Annex 11 or GMP would be beneficial.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a team.
- A willingness to travel occasionally (typically less than 5% of the role).
