Job Title: Banking Administrator (Legal Biller)

Reporting to: Finance Operations

 

Job Purpose:

This role sits within the Defendants Billing Team and involves processing daily BACS receipts, defendant bills, reversals and corrections, as well as addressing billing-specific queries and concerns. The post holder will also be required to proactively liaise with offices and the Costs Team to ensure any queries preventing billing are resolved in a timely manner.

The successful candidate must be able to process high volumes of work accurately, demonstrate strong teamwork skills and provide excellent customer service, ensuring a positive and professional image is maintained at all times.

Areas of Responsibility:

· Understand all processes and procedures for Defendants’ billing team. Take full ownership and maintain smooth dataflow of information.

· Identify and allocate BACS receipts to relevant matter files in CMS Aderant. Advise branch of all allocated receipts. Ensure any unidentified cash receipts in  suspense account is proactively cleared and maintained as per company policy.

· Prioritise work with methodical approach and solve erroneous and anomalous. Promptly resolve query and concerns raised by branch.

· Be a strong team player ensuring departmental items are dealt with within agreed timeline. Provide cover to Legal Cashiers/other teams members during absence and sickness.

· Manage the suspense account by proactively identifying matter references through daily contact with payors via email and telephone, ensuring that suspense balances are cleared promptly or maintained at the lowest possible level.

· Fully understand the impact and implication Solicitors’ Account Rules to avoid SRA breach.

Essential Experience: 

Good organisational and prioritising skills – good time management skills. Communication – verbal fluency, written, self-confidence. Ability to follow instructions and make appropriate decisions. IT and keyboard literate. Ability to work under pressure. Ability to take on delegated tasks from start to finish without supervision. Use initiative and work well under pressure. High level of accurate data input Excellent attention to detail.

 

At least 2 years of legal billing experience. Enjoy working as part of a team. Direct contact with clients, face to face and over the phone. Extensive/strong knowledge, application and compliance with Solicitors Accounts Rules.
