A highly regarded secondary school in Rochester is seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher of Design Technology to join its successful Technology department from September 2026.

The successful candidate will teach Design Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping students develop creativity, technical knowledge, problem-solving skills and confidence through innovative design and practical projects.

The Role

As a Teacher of Design Technology, you will:

  • Deliver engaging and well-structured Design Technology lessons across KS3 and KS4.
  • Inspire students through creative, practical and innovative design projects.
  • Plan and deliver lessons that challenge, engage and support learners of all abilities.
  • Assess, monitor and track student progress to ensure strong outcomes.
  • Develop students' practical, technical and problem-solving skills.
  • Promote safe working practices within specialist workshop environments.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom where all students can thrive.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and departmental initiatives.
  • Support enrichment opportunities, including STEM projects, design competitions and extracurricular clubs.

The Successful Candidate Will Have:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching Design Technology across KS3 and KS4.
  • The ability to teach one or more specialist areas such as Resistant Materials, Product Design, Engineering, Graphics or CAD/CAM is desirable.
  • Excellent subject knowledge and enthusiasm for Design Technology.
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • High expectations of student achievement and progress.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • The ability to contribute positively to a successful Technology department.
