Job Description:
A leading energy and engineering consultancy is expanding its specialist HVDC Advisory Team and is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with expertise across HVDC, FACTS, high-voltage transmission, power electronics, or related technologies.
This is an opportunity to work alongside recognised industry experts on major energy transition and transmission projects across Australia and the wider region.
The successful candidate will provide technical consulting expertise across the full lifecycle of HVDC and FACTS projects, from early-stage development and feasibility through to design, construction, commissioning, operations and asset management.
The RoleKey responsibilities will include:
Providing engineering consultancy services across HVDC, FACTS, high-voltage transmission and cable projects.
Supporting technical due diligence, feasibility studies, conceptual design, cost estimation and technical specification development.
Reviewing engineering designs and technical documentation.
Witnessing factory acceptance testing and supporting construction and commissioning activities.
Providing technical advice on operational issues, incident investigations, upgrades, replacements and asset performance improvement.
Supporting client engagement, tender submissions and business development activities.
Managing technical deliverables, project budgets, schedules and quality outcomes.
Mentoring and developing junior engineers.
Contributing to the continued growth of the organisation's HVDC and power systems advisory capability.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Electrical Engineer with a strong background in one or more of the following:
HVDC
FACTS
High-voltage transmission
Power electronics
Protection and control systems
High-voltage cables
Complex power systems or related energy infrastructure
You will ideally have:
A degree qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Demonstrated experience delivering HVDC, FACTS or closely related high-voltage transmission projects.
Experience across project development, engineering delivery, commissioning and/or operational phases.
Strong consulting and client-facing experience.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Experience managing technical deliverables, budgets, schedules and quality.
The ability to mentor and support less experienced engineers.
Australian working rights and the ability to travel to client and project sites when required.

The opportunity is open across Senior and Principal Engineer levels, with remuneration aligned to experience:
Senior Engineer: approximately 160,000–180,000 super
Principal Engineer: approximately 180,000–200,000 super
Candidates with particularly strong or specialist experience may be considered above these ranges.
The key priority is finding high-calibre HVDC / power systems talent with the technical depth and client-facing capability to contribute to major energy transition projects.
