We are currently recruiting for an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to join a leading contractor delivering a range of high-profile refurbishment, regeneration and new-build projects across the South East.

Based from the company's Hatfield head office, the role will involve regular travel to project sites, providing commercial leadership across a number of live schemes.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor or Managing Quantity Surveyor looking to take responsibility for multiple projects, develop a commercial team and play a key role in the financial performance of major construction programmes.

As Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will take overall responsibility for the commercial management of a number of projects, working closely with operational teams, clients, consultants and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered successfully and profitably.

You will also have direct line-management responsibility, including supporting and developing a trainee within the commercial team.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Providing commercial leadership across multiple construction and refurbishment projects.
• Managing project costs, budgets, forecasts and commercial performance.
• Leading the preparation and review of CVRs, valuations, applications and financial reports.
• Managing subcontractor procurement, payments, variations and final accounts.
• Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities.
• Supporting project teams with commercial strategy and contract management.
• Working closely with operational teams to ensure projects are delivered within budget and programme.
• Managing and developing a team of Quantity Surveyors and junior commercial staff.
• Providing guidance, coaching and mentoring to direct reports, including a trainee.
• Building strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
• Ensuring commercial processes and governance are consistently followed across projects.

We are looking for an experienced commercial professional who is comfortable operating at Managing QS level and taking ownership of multiple projects and commercial teams.

You will ideally have:

• Extensive Quantity Surveying experience within construction, refurbishment, regeneration or social housing.
• Previous experience operating as a Managing QS, Commercial Manager or strong Senior QS.
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong commercial and financial management skills.
• Experience with subcontractor management, procurement, valuations, variations and final accounts.
• Previous experience managing, mentoring or developing junior commercial staff.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A proactive approach to identifying commercial risks and opportunities.
• A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between project sites.
