Engineering Manager – Lead, Develop & TransformAre you an experienced Engineering Manager, Maintenance Manager, Chief Engineer or Head of Engineering looking for a role where you can make a genuine impact?
We're working with a high-performing, international FMCG manufacturing business that is looking for an Engineering Manager to take ownership of the engineering and maintenance function at their Bedford site.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, coach and develop a high-performing engineering team, creating a culture of accountability, engagement and continuous improvement
- Champion Health & Safety, driving a proactive safety culture with a focus on zero accidents
- Develop and implement a robust planned and preventative maintenance strategy
- Improve plant reliability, equipment availability and reduce unplanned downtime
- Drive Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing initiatives across the site
- Develop and manage engineering KPIs, using data to improve reliability, efficiency and operational performance
- Take ownership of engineering and maintenance activities across plant, equipment and facilities
- Lead engineering and CAPEX projects from planning through to successful implementation
- Manage engineering budgets, expenditure and engineering stores
- Ensure compliance with relevant legal, customer, quality and engineering standards
- Work closely with Production and Operations to maximise plant availability and support production targets
- Build strong relationships across the wider business and influence at senior-management level
- Develop engineering capability through training, coaching, succession planning and effective performance management
We're looking for an established engineering leader who combines strong technical knowledge with a genuine passion for people, reliability and operational improvement.
You'll ideally have:
- HND or degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Electrical or a related discipline
- Proven experience leading an engineering or maintenance function within a manufacturing environment
- Strong maintenance, reliability and engineering best-practice experience
- Experience managing, coaching and developing engineering teams
- Proven experience delivering CAPEX and engineering projects
- Experience managing engineering budgets and expenditure
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement
- Experience using CMMS or maintenance management systems
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety, compliance and engineering standards
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience using KPIs and data to drive engineering and operational performance
- A visible, hands-on leadership style with the ability to motivate and develop people
