Key Responsibilities of this Health & Safety Manager role:

  • Act as the site's HSE expert, providing guidance and support to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Drive a positive safety culture through engagement, coaching, and visible leadership.
  • Implement, maintain, and improve HSE management systems in line with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Deliver Health & Safety training, toolbox talks, and awareness programmes across the site.
  • Conduct regular safety tours, behavioural observations, audits, and workplace inspections.
  • Develop, review, and update risk assessments, ensuring risks are effectively controlled.
  • Coordinate specialist surveys, audits, and external compliance assessments.
  • Lead emergency preparedness activities, including response planning and drills.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and driving corrective actions.
  • Support management of change processes to ensure HSE risks are assessed and mitigated.
  • Review contractor RAMS, approve safe systems of work, and monitor contractor compliance.
  • Chair Health & Safety Committee meetings and contribute to wider business reviews.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and ensure audit schedules are effectively managed.

What We're Looking For

  • NEBOSH Degree
  • Proven Health & Safety leadership experience within manufacturing, FMCG, or packaging
  • Experience working with a range of production machinery and operational equipment
  • Strong understanding of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards
  • Experience managing contractors and maintaining site compliance
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Previous people management, mentoring, or safety leadership experience

What's In It For You?

  • A highly visible leadership role where you can genuinely influence site performance and culture.
  • The opportunity to shape and enhance the business's Health & Safety strategy.
  • Excellent career development opportunities within a growing and forward-thinking organisation.
  • A supportive leadership team that values collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • A chance to make a lasting impact on the wellbeing of employees and the success of the operation.
