A leading manufacturing business is looking to recruit a Maintenance Technician to join its engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for a multi-skilled engineer to work within a fast-paced production environment, supporting the maintenance and continuous improvement of manufacturing equipment and site facilities.
Reporting to the Maintenance Coordinator and Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring production lines, utilities, and site equipment operate safely and efficiently. You will respond to breakdowns, carry out planned preventative maintenance, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out planned preventative maintenance in line with maintenance schedules.
- Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults to minimise downtime.
- Perform fault finding on pneumatic, hydraulic, and automated systems.
- Support production teams with engineering-related issues.
- Complete maintenance documentation and handover reports accurately.
- Participate in root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and performance.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company procedures.
- Assist with contractor management and permit-to-work activities when required.
To be successful in this role, you will have previous engineering or maintenance experience gained within a manufacturing or production environment. You will be a proactive problem-solver with strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.
Essential Requirements- NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, ONC, or equivalent qualification in Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering.
- Previous maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience repairing electrical breakdowns and fault finding on hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of PLCs, ideally Siemens.
- Experience modifying control panels and reading wiring diagrams.
- Understanding of automation systems and frequency inverters.
- Welding, fabrication, or machining skills.
- Knowledge of industrial refrigeration systems.
