are currently working with a specialist façade and cladding contractor who are looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in Basildon.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially driven Quantity Surveyor to take ownership of multiple projects and play a key role in managing their financial and commercial performance from procurement through to final account.

The Role

As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the day-to-day commercial management of projects, working closely with operational teams, clients and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered successfully and profitably.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Commercial management of multiple projects from start through to completion.
  • Day-to-day cost control and budget management.
  • Preparing, issuing and progressing applications for payment.
  • Managing variations, change and additional works.
  • Preparing and agreeing final accounts.
  • Subcontractor procurement, including obtaining quotations and negotiating rates.
  • Preparing and issuing subcontract orders and associated documentation.
  • Managing subcontractor payments, valuations and commercial records.
  • Managing subcontractor variations and extra works.
  • Carrying out on-site remeasurement and preparing measurement sheets.
  • Preparing Cost vs Value Reports (CVRs).
  • Monitoring material budgets against actual usage and reporting on performance.
  • Identifying and managing commercial risks throughout projects.
  • Supporting Site Managers with pre-start planning and programming.
  • Attending site, client and subcontractor meetings as required.
  • Managing multiple projects concurrently while working to deadlines.
About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Around 5 years' experience in a Quantity Surveying or commercial role.
  • Previous experience within façades, cladding, external envelope, roofing or a related specialist construction environment is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience managing projects commercially.
  • Strong understanding of cost control, valuations, variations and final accounts.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and subcontractor accounts.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet commercial deadlines.
  • A conscientious, organised and commercially focused approach.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Appropriate level of CSCS certification.
