Job Title: Maintenance Technician – FRA Carpenter / Passive Works
Location: London & Surrounding Areas
Salary: £41,207 per annum £4,000 supplement after successful completion of probation
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm
Vehicle: Company van provided for business use

Build Recruitment are currently working in partnership with a leading housing association to recruit experienced FRA Carpenters / Fire Door Installers to join their Fire Management Repairs team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Carpenter with a background in fire doors, passive fire protection and housing maintenance to secure a permanent position working across London and the surrounding areas.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out fire safety repairs and maintenance identified through Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs), working across residents' homes, communal areas and housing stock.

The Role

As an FRA Carpenter / Passive Works Operative, you will be responsible for:

  • Installing, repairing and maintaining fire doors and fire door sets.
  • Carrying out fire door upgrades and remedial works.
  • Undertaking general passive fire protection repairs and maintenance.
  • Completing minor fire-stopping and associated remedial works where required.
  • Working from Fire Risk Assessment findings and completing works to the required standard.
  • Completing accurate compliance documentation and job records.
  • Working safely within occupied properties and communal areas.
  • Providing a professional and customer-focused service to residents.
  • Managing your own workload and completing works within agreed timescales.
  • Working in accordance with relevant health & safety and fire safety procedures.
About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience as a Carpenter / Joiner.
  • Previous experience installing, repairing or maintaining fire doors.
  • Experience within social housing, housing maintenance or property maintenance is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of carpentry and building maintenance.
  • Excellent attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
  • Good understanding of fire door compliance and best practice.
  • Experience of passive fire protection or fire-stopping would be advantageous.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to complete paperwork, compliance records and job documentation accurately.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good time management and organisational skills.
  • Basic IT / PDA skills.
  • A full UK manual driving licence.
