We are currently recruiting for an experienced Assistant Accountant to join a professional and regulated financial services organisation based in Paddington, London W2.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional looking to develop their accounting career within a professional and structured environment.

The successful candidate will have at least 3 years' relevant accounting experience, ideally gained within a Chartered Accountancy Practice or an FCA-regulated financial services organisation.

You will support the wider finance function across a range of accounting activities and will be expected to work accurately, efficiently and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the day-to-day accounting function and maintenance of accurate financial records.
  • Assist with the preparation of management and financial information.
  • Process and reconcile financial transactions.
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
  • Prepare and process invoices and payments.
  • Carry out regular bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end accounting procedures.
  • Support the preparation of financial reports and analysis.
  • Assist with the preparation of information required for audits and regulatory reporting.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies and accounting queries.
  • Liaise with internal teams and external contacts where required.
  • Ensure accounting processes are completed accurately and within required deadlines.
  • Provide general support to the senior members of the finance team.
  • Assist with ad-hoc finance projects and duties as required.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be an experienced and motivated finance professional with a strong attention to detail and a genuine interest in developing their accounting career.

You will ideally have:

  • A minimum of 3 years' relevant accounting experience.
  • Experience gained within a Chartered Accountancy Practice or FCA-regulated financial services organisation would be advantageous.
  • Good understanding of accounting principles and processes.
  • Strong Excel skills and good overall IT ability.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A proactive approach and willingness to take responsibility.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience working within a professional, regulated environment would be advantageous.
