We are currently seeking an experienced 11kV Network Planner to support a major electricity distribution programme in the Nuneaton area.
This is a technical planning and network design position, rather than a traditional construction or project planning role.
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and developing solutions for 11kV electricity distribution networks, including network reinforcement, replacement, alterations and new connections.
You will work closely with engineers, network operations, contractors and other planners to ensure schemes are technically viable, appropriately designed and capable of being delivered safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and develop 11kV electrical network schemes
- Carry out connection design and feasibility studies
- Develop budget and firm quotations for new connections and network alterations
- Design 11kV network reinforcement and replacement schemes
- Develop 11kV automation schemes where required
- Undertake or support load-flow and fault-level analysis
- Review existing network infrastructure and identify appropriate technical solutions
- Produce and review electrical schematics, network drawings and technical documentation
- Prepare technical reports, project documentation and connection information
- Coordinate with other Network Planners and Electrical Engineers
- Liaise with 33kV design teams where schemes interface with the wider network
- Assess the impact of new loads and developments on the existing network
- Support the planning of substations, cables and associated electrical infrastructure
- Coordinate with contractors and operational teams to ensure schemes are deliverable
- Support wayleave, easement and site acquisition requirements where necessary
- Attend site when required to assess existing infrastructure and proposed works
- Carry out or support power-quality investigations where required
- Ensure schemes comply with relevant DNO, ENA and electrical engineering standards
- Manage multiple schemes simultaneously and work to agreed deadlines

Experience with network modelling and tools such as CROWN, DES/EMU, WinDEBUT and HV Genie would be advantageous.
Standards & ComplianceCandidates should have a strong understanding of relevant UK electricity distribution standards and procedures, including where applicable:

- DNO Engineering Directives
- ESQCR
- BS 7671
- Relevant BS EN standards
- DNO-specific technical specifications
- HV operational and safety procedures
The ideal candidate will have previously worked for or alongside:
- DNOs
- IDNOs
- ICPs
- Electricity distribution contractors
- Electrical utilities
- Power network consultancies
- Major energy infrastructure organisations
Experience within the UK electricity distribution sector is highly desirable.
Essential Requirements- Strong practical 11kV network planning/design experience
- Experience within electricity distribution or a closely related environment
- Good understanding of HV electrical networks
- Ability to interpret and produce electrical/network drawings
- Understanding of substations, switchgear and cable networks
- Experience with network reinforcement and/or new connections
- Understanding of relevant DNO/ENA standards
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple schemes
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Level 3 Electrical/Electronic Engineering qualification or equivalent
- HNC/HND Electrical Engineering
- DNO experience
- SAP / Authorised Person experience
- Experience with CROWN, EMU/DES, WinDEBUT, HV Genie, SINCAL or equivalent
- Experience with 11kV load-flow and fault-level calculations
- Experience with network automation
- Experience working on major capital investment programmes
This is a specialist 11kV network planning/design position. Candidates must have genuine hands-on experience working with 11kV electricity distribution networks.
