Curriculum Manager – Vocational Science
Location: Angel
Salary: £53,542 – £56,793 per annum
Hours: 35 hours per week
Contract: Temporary, Ongoing
The Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Curriculum Manager – Vocational Science to join a Further Education college in Angel on a temporary, ongoing basis.
This is a management role within the Centre Curriculum Management Team, with responsibility for leading and developing teaching and learning across the Vocational Science provision. You will provide effective leadership to lecturers and technicians, ensuring high standards of teaching, learner achievement and curriculum quality.
The role combines curriculum management, staff leadership and quality improvement, with some teaching and assessment responsibilities of up to 15 hours per week depending on service requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the delivery and development of the Vocational Science curriculum.
- Provide effective line management, support and professional development for lecturers and technicians.
- Monitor and improve learner retention, success and achievement.
- Lead on teaching, learning and quality improvement initiatives across the curriculum area.
- Ensure curriculum programmes are effectively planned, reviewed and continuously improved.
- Monitor performance against key targets and provide regular progress reports.
- Work with awarding bodies and other external stakeholders to support high-quality delivery.
- Promote innovative approaches to teaching, learning, assessment and the use of technology.
- Support an excellent learner experience, ensuring equality of opportunity and enrichment.
- Develop relationships with employers, learners and local communities.
- Contribute to curriculum planning, staff development, quality processes and wider college initiatives.
- Ensure safeguarding, health and safety and equality requirements are consistently maintained.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Appropriate academic and teaching qualifications, including a PGCE.
- Recent experience of teaching within a relevant subject area.
- Experience working with 16–19-year-old learners.
- Experience of curriculum planning, assessment and quality processes within Further Education.
- Strong knowledge of curriculum development and learner achievement.
- Experience of managing, supporting and developing teaching staff.
- Excellent communication, organisational and IT skills.
- The ability to work effectively with students from a wide range of abilities and backgrounds.
- A strong understanding of safeguarding and the pastoral needs of FE learners.
- The ability to work effectively in a busy and sometimes pressurised environment.
Additional Information
The role may require occasional travel between college centres and external venues, as well as occasional evening or weekend work depending on service requirements. The post is subject to a DBS check.
