Electrical Facilities Maintenance Engineer

? Location: Cardiff
? Salary: £43,306.64 £2,500 Shift Allowance
? Permanent Full-Time
? 4 on, 4 off shift pattern – rotating days & nights

We are currently looking for an experienced Electrical Facilities Maintenance Engineer to join our team in Cardiff.

This role operates on a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern, alternating between days and nights — for example, 4 day shifts, 4 days off, followed by 4 night shifts.

This is a great opportunity for a qualified electrician with strong facilities maintenance experience, excellent customer service skills and the ability to work independently across a busy site.

The Role

As an Electrical Facilities Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Carrying out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and completing all relevant paperwork and reports.

  • Carrying out reactive and emergency maintenance tasks.

  • Using handheld technology to complete jobs within allocated timescales.

  • Maintenance, testing and fault finding across a variety of equipment.

  • Working with equipment including ventilation, pumps, generators, switchgear, cables, batteries, small power and lighting, where applicable.

  • Ensuring all tasks are completed within contractual timescales.

  • Supervising visiting subcontractors, including Health & Safety, permits, small works and escort duties.

  • Maintaining excellent relationships with onsite clients.

  • Completing all work-related documentation accurately and on time.

  • Supporting other team members and assisting across the wider property portfolio when required.

  • Working safely and following all company Health & Safety policies and procedures.

  • Attending training and appraisal activities as required.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • 18th Edition – essential.

  • NVQ Level 3 Electrical qualification / completed electrical apprenticeship – essential.

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role.

  • Minimum 3 years' Facilities Maintenance experience.

  • Experience in maintenance, testing and fault finding.

  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety and safe working practices.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • A proactive approach with strong problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent rapport-building skills with clients, colleagues and third parties.

  • Ability to complete paperwork accurately and within required timescales.

  • A flexible attitude to assisting at other properties within the portfolio.

  • Cleanroom experience is desirable, but not essential.
