Year 1 Teaching Assistant – Long-term, temporary and ongoing, full-time starting September 2026

 

This is a successful Roman Catholic primary school catering for pupils aged 5–11, located in Stourbridge and part of the Emmaus Catholic Multi Academy Company. The school is known for its caring ethos, strong community values, and commitment to providing a high-quality education for all pupils.

Duties as a Year 1 Teaching Assistant:
  • Support pupils within the Year 1 classroom on a one-to-one and small-group basis
  • Assist the class teacher with the delivery of engaging lessons and activities
  • Support the development of early literacy, numeracy, and communication skills
  • Help pupils build confidence, independence, and positive learning behaviours
  • Support children with differing learning needs and abilities
  • Assist with classroom preparation and organisation
  • Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment
Ideal Year 1 Teaching Assistant:
  • Previous experience working with primary-aged children is desirable
  • Experience within a school or educational setting is advantageous
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patient, caring, and adaptable approach
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
  • Understanding of Key Stage 1 learning and development
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
