Job Description:
We're recruiting for a highly organised and proactive Procurement Coordinator to join a growing engineering and manufacturing operation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys balancing day-to-day purchasing activity with supplier development, global sourcing and continuous process improvement.
This role is ideal for a procurement professional who likes to stay ahead of the curve, taking ownership of purchasing requirements, proactively managing supplier performance and ensuring critical components are available to support production requirements.
The OpportunityYou'll play a key role in coordinating the procurement of components, materials and services, ensuring products are sourced from the right suppliers, at the right price and delivered on time.
Working closely with production, engineering and operations teams, you'll manage purchasing activities through an MRP-driven process while helping to improve supplier performance, strengthen supply chains and reduce procurement risks.
This is a hands-on role where you'll be encouraged to challenge the status quo, identify efficiencies and contribute towards the development of a more streamlined, automated procurement function.
Key Responsibilities- Manage day-to-day purchasing activities through MRP systems
- Raise and manage purchase orders with approved suppliers
- Obtain and evaluate quotations from new and existing suppliers
- Monitor supplier performance and delivery schedules
- Chase and maintain accurate delivery ETAs
- Develop strong supplier relationships and negotiate pricing, lead times and commercial agreements
- Support global sourcing initiatives and identify alternative suppliers
- Work closely with operational teams to minimise supply chain disruption
- Maintain accurate procurement records, pricing and supplier data
- Drive continuous improvement across procurement processes and systems
- At least 2 years' experience within a Procurement Coordinator, Procurement Administrator, Buyer or Purchasing role
- Experience working within a manufacturing, engineering or production-led environment
- Strong knowledge of MRP/ERP systems
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- A proactive approach and the ability to take ownership of tasks through to completion
- Strong supplier management and relationship-building skills
- Commercial awareness and experience evaluating supplier quotations
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment
