The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join the Engineering team at a large-scale manufacturing facility in Northamptonshire.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across production machinery, equipment and site services.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults efficiently and effectively.
  • Respond promptly to breakdowns, minimising production downtime and maintaining operational output.
  • Complete routine inspections and safety checks to ensure equipment remains safe, compliant and reliable.
  • Support the installation, commissioning and modification of new and existing equipment.
  • Work closely with Production and Operations teams to prioritise maintenance activities and respond to operational requirements.
  • Identify recurring equipment issues and implement permanent corrective solutions.
  • Investigate breakdowns and incidents, carrying out root cause analysis and recommending preventative actions.
  • Support engineering and continuous improvement projects across the site.
  • Identify opportunities to improve machinery reliability, efficiency and overall equipment performance.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are completed in line with company procedures, engineering standards and HSE requirements.
  • Contribute to a positive safety culture and promote safe working practices across the site.
  • Take ownership of maintenance issues and use your engineering expertise to make effective, informed decisions.
Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • HNC, HND or Degree-level qualification in an Engineering discipline.
  • A recognised electrical or mechanical engineering qualification.
  • A completed time-served apprenticeship or equivalent engineering experience.
  • Proven experience within a manufacturing, production or industrial maintenance environment.
  • Strong multi-skilled engineering capabilities across both electrical and mechanical disciplines.
  • Proven experience carrying out planned preventative and reactive maintenance.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Experience working with industrial production machinery and associated plant equipment.
  • Knowledge or experience of Lean and/or Six Sigma methodologies would be advantageous.
  • A strong understanding of health, safety and engineering best practice.
