Job Description:
Manufacturing Engineer Reading Permanent On-site
If you’d rather fix the problem than write a report about it, keep reading. We’re looking for a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to join an established engineering team in Reading.
This is a role for someone who likes being close to the action — getting onto the production floor, figuring out why something isn't working, improving the process and then seeing the result in real time.
You’ll have plenty of ownership, plenty to get your teeth into, and the opportunity to make a genuine difference to how products are built.
What’s on your bench?- Improve the process – find the bottlenecks, remove the headaches and make production more efficient.
- Get technical – work across electrical assembly, wiring, termination, protection components and production testing.
- Make engineering work on the shop floor – interpret drawings and technical information and turn them into practical, repeatable build processes.
- Build better ways of working – develop tooling, fixtures, visual instructions and error-proofing solutions.
- Solve the real problem – investigate defects and failures, get to the root cause and make sure they don't keep coming back.
- Drive improvement – use Lean, data and time studies to improve quality, throughput and consistency.
- Work with everyone – you'll be partnering with Production, Quality, Test, Engineering, Maintenance and Supply Chain every day.
- You've got 3 years' experience in manufacturing/process engineering
- Your background is electrical or electromechanical
- You naturally look for why something went wrong — not just who did it
- You've got a good understanding of Lean / continuous improvement
- You're comfortable working in a high-mix manufacturing environment
A degree in Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial or Electromechanical Engineering would be expected.
Why this one?Because you won't be sitting on the sidelines.
You'll have the opportunity to own improvements, influence how things are manufactured and solve genuine engineering problems in a technically interesting production environment.
If you're a Manufacturing Engineer who wants their work to be seen on the shop floor rather than buried in a spreadsheet, this one's worth a conversation.
