A well-established specialist contractor with over 20 years' experience delivering facade, recladding and drylining projects across the UK is looking to strengthen its Commercial team.

The business works alongside some of the UK's leading developers, main contractors and housing providers, delivering complex and high-value projects across the specialist construction sector.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their Commercial team at their Basildon headquarters.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to take greater ownership of high-value projects and play a key role in the commercial success of a growing specialist contractor.

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of multiple projects from procurement and pre-construction through to completion and final account.

Working closely with Directors, Project Managers, operational teams, clients and supply chain partners, you will provide strong commercial leadership, identify risks and opportunities, and ensure projects are delivered successfully and profitably.

You will also have the opportunity to support and mentor more junior members of the commercial team.

• Lead the commercial management of high-value facade, recladding and drylining projects.
• Take ownership of project budgets, cost control, forecasting and financial reporting.
• Prepare valuations and applications for payment.
• Manage procurement and the commercial performance of subcontractors and suppliers.
• Manage variations, change control and commercial opportunities.
• Prepare and agree final accounts.
• Monitor project performance, margins, cash flow and commercial risk.
• Manage contractual obligations and contract administration.
• Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, main contractors and supply chain partners.
• Work closely with operational teams to ensure commercial and project objectives are aligned.
• Provide commercial input into project strategy, procurement and delivery.
• Identify and mitigate commercial risks while maximising opportunities.
• Support commercial negotiations and dispute resolution where required.
• Provide guidance and support to Quantity Surveyors and junior commercial team members.
• Contribute to the continued development of commercial processes and best practice.

We're looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor who can demonstrate:

• 7 years' Quantity Surveying experience within the construction sector.
• Experience working for a specialist subcontractor, main contractor or construction business.
• Ideally, experience within facades, cladding, recladding, drylining or another specialist construction sector.
• Strong commercial awareness and financial management skills.
• Good understanding of JCT contracts and contract administration.
• Proven experience managing valuations, variations, procurement and final accounts.
• Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• The ability to manage multiple live projects and competing priorities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• A proactive approach with the confidence to challenge and influence where required.
• A relevant Quantity Surveying or construction qualification would be advantageous, alongside professional qualifications such as RICS where applicable.
