We are currently recruiting for an experienced Estimator to join the commercial team of an established specialist contractor operating within the passive fire protection sector.

Working within the Pre-Construction team, you will take ownership of opportunities from initial enquiry through to quotation, tender submission, settlement and successful handover to the delivery team.

This is a hands-on estimating position suited to someone who is commercially minded, highly organised and confident building accurate estimates from first principles.

As Estimator, you will be responsible for:

• Managing incoming quotation enquiries and assessing the quality and completeness of information provided.
• Reviewing drawings, specifications, Fire Risk Assessments and other tender documentation.
• Producing accurate estimates covering labour, materials, subcontract packages and preliminaries.
• Pricing quotations and formal tenders from first principles.
• Obtaining and assessing subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Working closely with Technical QS and Operations teams to establish accurate project costs.
• Supporting bid launch, mid-bid review, pre-settlement and final settlement meetings.
• Developing pricing in line with the agreed bidding strategy and protecting commercial margins.
• Preparing settlement packs and finalising pricing following commercial settlement.
• Managing multiple live opportunities and ensuring quotations are submitted within agreed deadlines.
• Responding to post-submission queries and clarifications.
• Following up submitted quotations and recording tender outcomes and feedback.
• Working closely with the Project team to ensure a smooth handover of successful tenders.
• Maintaining accurate records of opportunities, quotations and tender activity using CRM systems.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in an Estimating role within construction, fit-out or a specialist contracting environment.

You will have:

• Proven experience producing estimates from first principles.
• A strong understanding of labour, materials, subcontractor costs and preliminaries.
• Excellent commercial awareness, including understanding of costs, margins and settlement.
• Strong Microsoft Excel and Outlook skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• The ability to review enquiry documentation and identify missing or insufficient information.
• Strong communication skills and confidence dealing with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
• The ability to manage multiple live quotations and tenders effectively.
• A proactive and organised approach to chasing quotations and maintaining tender pipelines.

Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:

• Passive fire protection
• Fire stopping
• Fire doors
• Fire protection / specialist refurbishment
• Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs)
• Formal tendering and settlement processes
• Working alongside Quantity Surveyors, Technical teams and Operations
• HubSpot or another CRM / estimating system

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Estimator to join an established specialist contractor and play a key role within its Pre-Construction and Commercial function.

You will have genuine ownership of the estimating process, working closely with senior commercial and operational stakeholders while being involved in projects from initial enquiry through to successful handover.
