Duties as a SEND Teaching Assistant:

• Support pupils with Special Educational Needs within the classroom
• Work with individuals and small groups to support learning and engagement
• Assist pupils in accessing the curriculum and classroom activities
• Support communication, social skills, and emotional wellbeing
• Implement strategies provided by the class teacher and SENDCo
• Encourage independence, confidence, and positive learning behaviours
• Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
• Help create a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment

Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant:

• Previous SEND experience is essential
• Experience supporting children with additional needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties, or learning needs is desirable
• Patient, caring, and resilient approach
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
