We are currently working with a leading UK maintenance and refurbishment contractor who are looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in Slough.

The business delivers a wide range of social housing, planned maintenance, refurbishment and property improvement programmes, working with housing associations and public sector clients.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor with a background in social housing, planned maintenance or refurbishment to take responsibility for the commercial management of live contracts and develop their career within an established and growing business.

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing the commercial aspects of projects from procurement and cost control through to valuations and final account.

Working closely with operational teams, clients, subcontractors and suppliers, you will ensure projects are commercially controlled and delivered in line with contractual requirements.

• Manage the commercial aspects of social housing and planned maintenance contracts.
• Monitor project budgets, costs, forecasts and cashflow.
• Prepare and submit monthly valuations and applications for payment.
• Manage variations, compensation events and contractual claims where applicable.
• Assist with the administration of JCT, NEC and other relevant contracts.
• Manage subcontractor procurement, payments and commercial performance.
• Review subcontractor applications, valuations and final accounts.
• Monitor project performance and identify commercial risks and opportunities.
• Produce accurate commercial reports for senior management and clients.
• Work closely with operational teams to ensure commercial and project objectives are achieved.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Support the preparation and agreement of final accounts.
• Ensure commercial processes are compliant with company procedures and contractual requirements.

The successful candidate will have:

• Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within social housing, planned maintenance, refurbishment or property services.
• Good understanding of commercial management across live projects.
• Experience with valuations, variations, cost control, forecasting and final accounts.
• Knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts.
• Experience managing subcontractors and supply chain relationships.
• Strong commercial and financial awareness.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work effectively with operational, client and commercial teams.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and relevant commercial/cost management systems.
• A degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline is desirable.
