Careers and Work Placement Officer

We are seeking an organised, proactive and people-focused Futures and Work Placement Officer to join a busy careers and employability service within a further education setting.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people, building relationships with employers and helping students access meaningful work experience and industry placements.

The Role

As Futures and Work Placement Officer, you will provide administrative and organisational support to the careers and work placement service, while taking an active role in sourcing, securing and coordinating high-quality work experience opportunities for students.

You will work closely with students, curriculum teams, employers, training providers and other external organisations to ensure placements are relevant to students' education and career aspirations.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Supporting students to identify suitable work experience and industry placement opportunities.
• Building and maintaining positive relationships with employers and external organisations.
• Identifying, securing, matching and monitoring student placements.
• Working with curriculum teams to identify placement opportunities that support students' educational and career goals.
• Organising careers, employability and employer engagement events.
• Supporting the delivery of careers education activities and group sessions.
• Coordinating placement administration, including DBS applications and relevant records.
• Monitoring students' attendance and progress while on placement.
• Maintaining an up-to-date database of employers and placement opportunities.
• Supporting students to reflect on and evaluate their work experience.
• Promoting work placement opportunities and encouraging student participation.
• Providing a professional point of contact for placement enquiries.
• Supporting parent/carer, open, recruitment and enrolment events.
• Maintaining accurate records and producing reports relating to participation and impact.

About You

We are looking for someone who can engage confidently with students from diverse backgrounds and provide support according to individual needs.

You will ideally have:

• At least Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths.
• Experience working in a customer-focused environment.
• Recent experience working with young people, ideally within careers education, guidance or employability.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• The ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues, students and external organisations.
• Good IT skills, including word processing, spreadsheets and internet research.
• The ability to research information and communicate it clearly to others.
• Experience producing reports using statistical information would be advantageous.
