Senior Building Surveyor

Build Recruitment are currently working with a well-established property and construction consultancy who are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Building Surveyor to join their St Austell team.

This is a key opportunity for an ambitious Building Surveyor who is looking for increased responsibility, autonomy and the opportunity to help develop a local Building Surveying function.

Working alongside a Director, you will manage a varied portfolio of projects and professional instructions across Cornwall, covering everything from historic buildings and defect diagnosis through to commercial projects and contract administration.

You will be responsible for a diverse range of building surveying and project-based work, including:

• Leading the inception, design and delivery of construction projects.

• Undertaking building surveys, condition reports and defect investigations.

• Acting as Contract Administrator and/or Employer's Agent.

• Managing projects from tender through to completion and final account.

• Providing professional advice on dilapidations, party wall matters and planned maintenance.

• Managing client relationships and acting as a trusted point of contact.

• Taking a lead role in the local Building Surveying function.

• Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team.

• Contributing to the continued growth and development of the regional business.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Proven experience as a Building Surveyor / Senior Building Surveyor.

• Strong experience across both professional surveying and project delivery.

• Experience with contract administration and/or Employer's Agent duties.

• Excellent technical knowledge of building pathology, defects and construction.

• Strong client-facing and communication skills.

• The ability to manage your own workload and take ownership of projects.

• A relevant Building Surveying degree or equivalent qualification.

• MRICS or working towards chartership would be advantageous.

• Salary up to £60,000 depending on experience
