Print Production & Artwork Manager

We’re recruiting an experienced Artwork & Print Production Manager to join a specialist print and packaging business in West London.

This is a brilliant opportunity for an ambitious print professional who wants more responsibility, variety, and the opportunity to become a key part of a business.

Working closely with the Operations Director, you’ll become a trusted right-hand person across artwork, clients, and production, taking ownership of projects from the initial brief right through to finished product.

The business operates with a close-knit team, so they’re looking for an all-rounder with a hands-on mentality. Someone who gets stuck in, solves problems and is comfortable switching between artwork, client liaison, quoting, scheduling and production rather than working within a narrowly defined remit.

You might currently be working within a smaller print, packaging, artwork, or repro business where you already wear several hats and are ready for a role offering greater responsibility and progression.

The role

You’ll manage a varied workload of print and packaging projects, including:

• Taking and interpreting client briefs and advising on the best way to produce each project
• Creating, checking and amending artwork using Adobe Creative Suite
• Preparing artwork from supplied design files ahead of pre-press and production
• Providing hands-on artwork and repro support when required
• Liaising directly with clients, managing amends, deadlines and expectations
• Preparing quotations, job sheets and production schedules
• Advising clients on appropriate and cost-effective print, materials and finishing options
• Coordinating projects across pre-press, print and finishing
• Working alongside the Operations Director to manage production priorities and workloads
• Liaising and negotiating with suppliers and arranging materials and resources
• Tracking project costs and ensuring the relevant purchase orders are raised
• Troubleshooting issues and making decisions to keep jobs moving
• Ensuring work is delivered accurately, on time, within budget and to the required quality
• Developing strong ongoing relationships with clients

About you

We’re looking for somebody who combines strong technical print knowledge with ambition, initiative, and commercial awareness.

• At least 5 years' experience within print production, artwork, repro or a related environment
• Strong hands-on experience with Adobe Creative Suite
• Experience creating, checking and amending artwork for print
• A good understanding of litho and digital print
• Knowledge of the complete production process from pre-press through to print, finishing and dispatch
• Strong client-facing and communication skills
• The ability to manage multiple jobs and competing deadlines
• Good commercial awareness and an understanding of print costing and production decisions
• A proactive approach – you’ll be someone who spots what needs doing and gets on with it
• The confidence to make decisions, solve problems and take ownership
• Excellent attention to detail and organisation

Experience with packaging artwork, high-end print, mock-ups, proofing, or specialist finishing would be particularly useful, although broader commercial print experience will also be considered.
