Are you an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer looking to work on a wide variety of bespoke engineering projects from concept through to manufacture?

We are seeking a talented engineer with strong 3D design experience to join a growing engineering team designing fabricated, sheet metal, and structural steel products. This is a hands-on role where you'll take ownership of designs throughout the full project lifecycle, ensuring solutions are not only innovative but practical and manufacturable.

Key Responsibilities

• The Mechanical Design Engineer will design and develop fabricated, sheet metal, and steel products for manufacture
• Produce detailed manufacturing drawings, assemblies, and BOMs.
• Manage projects from initial concept through to completion and production release.
• The Mechanical Design Engineer will liaise closely with the shop floor and manufacturing teams to ensure designs can be efficiently produced and assembled.
• Resolve design and manufacturing challenges through effective communication and practical engineering solutions.
• Ensure designs meet quality, safety, and customer requirements.
• Assist with prototyping, testing, and continuous product improvement activities.
• Support project documentation and engineering change processes.

Requirements

• Minimum 4 years' experience in a Mechanical Design Engineer position.
• The Mechanical Design Engineer will need a strong proficiency using Autodesk Inventor 3D CAD software.
• Experience designing fabricated steel, sheet metal, and structural steel products.
• Ability to create detailed manufacturing drawings and understand GD&T/tolerancing principles.
• The Mechanical Design Engineer will need excellent communication skills with the confidence to work directly with production and shop floor personnel.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a practical engineering mindset.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Desirable

• Experience carrying out or supporting Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
• The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally need a good understanding of engineering tolerances and manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of welding, fabrication, CNC machining, and assembly techniques.
