Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant with direct classroom experience supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)?
We are working with a specialist primary SEND school in South West London that is looking for a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEN TA who is confident supporting children with complex learning, medical and physical needs within a specialist classroom environment.
The Role
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work as part of a specialist classroom team supporting primary-aged pupils with PMLD and complex needs.
You will provide direct support with pupils' learning, development and engagement, following individualised learning programmes and helping pupils access the school's sensory curriculum.
The role may also involve providing personal care and supporting pupils with their physical and medical needs.
The successful candidate will be confident working with pupils who may have significant communication, mobility and developmental needs and will be able to provide patient, consistent and compassionate support throughout the school day.
Essential Candidate Requirements
The school is specifically looking for candidates with direct PMLD experience within a classroom setting.
You will need:
- Proven experience working as a SEN Teaching Assistant in a school or specialist educational setting
- Direct classroom experience supporting pupils with PMLD
- Experience supporting children with complex learning and additional needs
- Confidence supporting pupils with physical and/or medical needs
- A caring, patient and resilient approach
- Ability to work effectively as part of a specialist classroom team
- Commitment to supporting pupils' learning, development and independence
Experience supporting pupils with SLD, Autism, complex medical needs, sensory needs and/or personal care requirements would be advantageous.
The School
This specialist primary school supports children aged 2–11 with severe learning difficulties (SLD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), Autism and complex medical needs.
The school provides a specialist learning environment designed around the individual needs of its pupils, with a dedicated staff team committed to supporting children and their families. Regular training and development opportunities are also available.
Important
This is a full-time position and the school requires candidates with previous, direct experience supporting pupils with PMLD in a classroom setting.
