Job Description:
The successful candidate will play a key role in the day-to-day operation of the school site, helping to create a safe and positive environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.
Duties as a Site Assistant:- Carry out general maintenance, repairs, and basic DIY tasks across the school site
- Assist with the opening and closing of school buildings when required
- Ensure the school premises remain safe, clean, secure, and well presented
- Support health and safety procedures and report any concerns promptly
- Undertake routine checks of school facilities, equipment, and grounds
- Assist with setting up rooms and facilities for school events and activities
- Liaise with contractors and visitors attending the site
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff
- Support site security procedures and emergency arrangements where necessary
- Carry out other reasonable duties as directed by the school leadership team
- Previous experience within a caretaking, facilities, maintenance, or site assistant role
- Good practical DIY and maintenance skills
- Understanding of health and safety responsibilities within a workplace
- Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively
- Reliable, proactive, and organised approach to work
- Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
- Experience working within a school environment is desirable but not essential
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
