A welcoming and well-organised primary school in Enfield is looking for an experienced Attendance & Welfare Officer to join their busy school office. The successful candidate will take responsibility for admissions and attendance administration, ensuring pupil records and school data are accurate, up to date and processed efficiently.
The RoleWorking as part of the school administration and pastoral team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of pupil attendance, welfare and first aid. You will work closely with teaching staff, parents/carers and senior leadership to ensure attendance is accurately monitored and pupils receive appropriate support with their health, wellbeing and welfare needs.
The successful candidate will be a key point of contact for pupils who require first aid during the school day and will act as the first port of call for student first aid. A current First Aid Certificate is essential for this role.
The school is looking for someone who is highly organised, caring and confident working with children, parents/carers and confidential information. Previous experience within a school office, attendance or pastoral environment would be advantageous.
Key responsibilities will include:- Managing the day-to-day administration and monitoring of pupil attendance.
- Monitoring attendance information, identifying concerns and following up unexplained or persistent absence in line with school procedures.
- Communicating with parents/carers regarding attendance, punctuality, absence and welfare concerns.
- Maintaining accurate attendance, pupil welfare and safeguarding-related records.
- Acting as the first port of call for pupil first aid, providing appropriate first aid care and responding calmly and confidently to minor injuries and illness.
- Ensuring first aid incidents are accurately recorded and parents/carers are informed where appropriate.
- Monitoring pupil welfare and raising concerns with the appropriate member of the pastoral or senior leadership team.
- Supporting pupils who are unwell or require assistance during the school day, ensuring appropriate procedures are followed.
- Liaising with teaching staff and senior leaders regarding attendance, welfare and individual pupil needs.
- Supporting the school with attendance-related administration and communication with external agencies where required.
- Maintaining accurate pupil records and school data.
- Using school management information systems, including SIMS or similar platforms.
- Daily use of Microsoft Word, Excel and other school administration systems.
- Supporting general school office administration as required.
- Carrying out routine administrative tasks and any other reasonable duties requested by the Office Manager or School Business Manager.

About YouTo be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- Previous experience working in a school administration, attendance, pastoral or welfare environment.
- Experience managing pupil attendance and/or welfare within a primary school.
- A current First Aid Certificate – essential, with the ability and confidence to act as the school's first port of call for pupil first aid.
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling pupil information and records.
- Good knowledge of SIMS or a similar school management information system.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- An understanding of the importance of pupil welfare, safeguarding and confidentiality.
- A caring, calm and reassuring manner when dealing with pupils who are unwell, injured or require additional support.
- The ability to communicate sensitively and professionally with pupils, parents/carers and staff.
- The ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
- The ability to work independently, manage your own workload and respond effectively to changing priorities.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a school office and pastoral team.
