We are assisting a global logistics business with over 75,000 employees, in their search for a Senior Data Scientist, based in Essen. As part of the Global Data Science team the Senior Data Scientist role focuses on designing advanced analytics solutions, utilizing Machine Learning, AI techniques, Data Visualization tools and Big Data technologies. We are looking for an experienced Data Scientist who can contribute to projects with, problem-solving skills, engineering mindset, eagerness to learn and wants to make an impact on the business.

The role will aid forecasting of supply and demand, financials, inventory and delivery times, alongside fleet management and warehouse capacity planning. The goal is to create a new data driven environment that increases efficiencies across the business.

The role will include:

• Working with colleagues across the business, establishing which areas can be supported by data analytics and machine learning solutions, gathering and processing the required data sets
• Performing data analysis, communicating insights and creating prototypes to solve business problems
• Designing and deploy advanced analytics components

What we’re looking for:

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Engineering or Finance
• Experience in data analytics or machine learning projects
• Advanced skills with SQL, Python and data science libraries
• Experience translating business needs into quantitative analytics problems
