However, with such prolific use of technology comes risk and potential threats through the loss or compromise of our information, which would impact significantly on the success of our business, and therefore to military capability and defence as a whole. This risk must become a conscious part of our daily working practices, so we can minimise it by ensuring we adopt appropriate behaviour to safeguard our data and our information and that of our suppliers.

The DE&S Digital Information Assurance Team's role is about increasing confidence in the quality of our information by ensuring it:

* Can be shared with anyone who needs it, to make decisions,

* Is protected appropriately,

* And complies with legal and policy requirements.

Within the DE&S Digital Information Assurance team we are seeking individuals who can demonstrate knowledge and experience of Information Assurance both internally across the whole DE&S Business and Programme Portfolios and externally in ensuring information held by our Suppliers is also safe and secure. The DE&S Digital team fully embrace SMART working where practical which effectively means you only have to be in the office when it is not possible to undertake work or meetings remotely. Therefore, having the ability to "work from home" as appropriate, to meet task deliverables.

The DE&S Digital Information Assurance Team currently have vacancies in the following areas; Data Protection, IT Security, Industry Data Assurance and the Information Asset Owner Network.

Data Protection Advisor (DPA) Data Protection is a legal obligation for any business with severe penalties for non-compliance. The DPA role is to ensure the business meets those obligations, through implementation of Data Protection by Design, by supporting the completion of the tasks to protect personal data and promoting and raising awareness of the obligations as an integral part of the Data Protection Team.

IT Security Officer Team The ITSO team's activities range from Cyber Security Incident management, ensuring the security of DE&S IT systems and training our staff to face the ever-growing Cyber threat. We work directly with our security partners within DE&S, Defence Digital and the wider MOD to protect the UK's information from both internal and external threats.

Information Asset Owner Network Information Asset Owners are key senior stakeholders who own information assets and the associated risks for their business areas. The roles in this team would involve: Working to implement Cabinet Office & MOD Policy on Information Assets, Information Asset Owners, and Information Risks across DE&S; Writing and implementing local DE&S Policy, Procedure & Guidelines on Information Assets, Information Asset Owners, and Information Risks; Providing support, developing and delivering training, to DE&S Information Asset Owners and their support staff; on behalf of the DE&S Senior Information Risk Owner.

Industry Data Assurance Team (IDAT) The Industry Data Assurance Team conduct Audits of DE&S internal business teams and their external suppliers, highlighting and reporting identified compliance risks and areas of good practice against the Cyber Security Model. Working closely with the Defence Cyber Protection Partnership which is a joint MOD and Industry led partnership, to strengthen the defence supply chain against cyber threats and reduce the risk to the Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability of MOD Identifiable Information. This role requires regular travel to DE&S outstations and supplier locations, which may necessitate overnight stays.

Although the positions advertised are based at the DE&S Head Office in Bristol, remote smart-working will also be considered. Travel will be required to Abbey Wood HQ as appropriate and other business locations as referred to in the vacancy roles above

What you will be assessed against

To be found successful you must demonstrate the following essential criteria:

* Proven track record of communication skills both internally and externally

* Information Assurance experience

* Cyber experience

It would benefit your application should you be able to demonstrate the following desirable criteria:

* Previous experience in Information Risk

* Previous Knowledge/Experience of Cyber/Information Compliance methodologies
