Job Description:
Our client is a leading global renewable energy company who are searching for an experienced Offshore Project Engineer who will be responsible for providing project engineering services during the design, construction, commissioning/operations phases of offshore wind farm projects.
Responsibilities
This is a construction package management role within an external client’s Offshore Foundation Transport & Installation package for an offshore wind farm currently in the pre-construction phase and has various main functions:
- Contract management, preparation and review of Technical Communication Notes
- Package / Contractor interface; various - HSE, QA and QC, consent compliance, stakeholder engagement and site conditions (geophysical, geotechnical and metocean)
- Package Document Control
- Assisting in Factory Acceptance Tests or audits of contractors and their sub-contractors and
- Assisting in the daily management of contractors (during construction phase)
Knowledge
- Good knowledge of Transportation and Installation of Offshore Wind Foundations
- Broad engineering knowledge covering all aspects of offshore wind farm design and operation
- Some knowledge of the techno-economic issues faced, and how they are addressed, by offshore wind projects as they progress through from consent to construction and into operation
- Some knowledge of people management and leadership
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations within the offshore environment
- An understanding of CDM
- An understanding of technical and contractual interfaces
Skills
- Good project management skills and knowledge of project management methodologies
- An appreciation of the importance of design control and document management/project governance
- Ability to work under pressure at a detailed level (i,e. reviewing or drafting contract schedules)
- Ability to see the bigger picture (i,e. developing a strategic approach to solve a particular problem)
- Excellent communication skills including report writing and presentation and the ability to communicate effectively with clients, contractors and consultants
- Ability to manage own workload and meet demanding timescales
- Ability to work as a member of a team and to react positively to the varying challenges of projects
- Delivering engineering and/or technical services and solutions on complex engineering projects
- Managing multi-disciplinary project teams on complex engineering projects
- Preparing and issuing tender packages for sub consultants and contractors
- Developing technical aspects of tenders to clients
- Interacting with clients in a sales support role
Requirements
- Engineering degree in mechanical, structural electrical engineering
- Chartered Engineer status would be preferred
- A current UK driving licence
